چکیده
Objective:. To evaluate the clinical and radiographic outcome after open reduction and internal fixation of the forearm diaphyseal fractures by Dynamic Compression plate (DCP). Methodoligy: We prospectively, investigated the clinical and radiographic outcome for 94 adult patients with 154 forearm shaft fractures. The study groups include 70 males, and 24 females. Patients were treated by open reduction and internal fixation with small DCP and followed up for 24 months. Time of union, rate of union, complications and outcome were assessed according to the modified system of Price and Daruwalla Score. Results: Out of 154 fractures 149 (94.155%) had united at a mean time of 15.4 weeks (range 1126weeks), there was 02(3.08%) superficial infection that healed by debridement and antibiotics, and 01(1.54%) deep infection which caused to delayed union and underwent reoperation, including change of implant and bone graft. Two (3.08%) radial nerve injuries occurred after operation, full recovery in one and partial in another patient was observed after 6 months. Excellent and good results were seen in 40 (66.7%) and 20 (33.3%) of the patients with both bone fractures, in radius Excellent and good results were seen in 16(80%) and 04(20%) patients, in ulna Excellent and fair 14(85.75%) and 2(14.25%) of adults forearm shaft fractures with conventional 3.5 mm DCP was associated with a high rate of success. The results with this type of plate are comparable with the never and more expensive implants.

Forearm Shaft Fractures: Results of Ten-year Follow-up
Fractures of the forearm present a unique management problem for years. Major improvements in the results of management of this injury awaited the development of advanced techniques. The introduction of AO implants and AO principles has markedly improved functional results for the patient, depending on the degree of soft tissue injury. Presentation is made of a ten-year follow-up of forearm fra...
متن کاملEffectiveness of locking versus dynamic compression plates for diaphyseal forearm fractures.
This study compares the results of the locking compression plate (LCP) and the dynamic compression plate (DCP) in the treatment of diaphyseal forearm fractures in adults and defines the indications for the use of the LCP. Forty-two patients with diaphyseal forearm fractures were retrospectively analyzed. Of those, 22 had been treated with the LCP (LCP group) and 20 had been treated with the DCP...
متن کاملInternal fixation of fractures of both bones forearm: Comparison of locked compression and limited contact dynamic compression plate
BACKGROUND The locking compression plate (LCP) with combination holes is a newer device in fracture fixation. We undertook a study comparing the LCP with limited contact dynamic compression plate (LC-DCP) in the treatment of diaphyseal fractures of both bones of the forearm. MATERIALS AND METHODS This is a prospective comparative study, 36 patients (18 in each group) with fractures of both th...
متن کاملPlate osteosynthesis of simple forearm fractures: LCP versus DC plates.
The aim of this study was to compare the time to radiological bony union of simple A-type fractures of the forearm, treated with either a locking compression plate (LCP) or a dynamic compression plate (DCP). For each fracture, the relation between the use of compression and radiological healing time was studied. Nine fractures were treated with LCP and 10 fractures with DC plates. The mean time...
متن کاملOutcome of diaphyseal forearm fracture-nonunions treated by autologous bone grafting and compression plating
BACKGROUND The treatment of forearm fracture-nonunions continues to represent a therapeutic challenge, and reported outcomes are moderate at best. Limiting aspects of this particular anatomic location include the relation between restoration of shaft length with the anatomy and long-term functional outcome of adjacent joints, as well as the risk of elbow and wrist stiffness related to prolonged...
